Dismissed Soldier Soja Boi Challenges Nigerian Army Pay Claims

Rotimi Olamilekan, a former Lance Corporal in the Nigerian Army, known as Soja Boi, has publicly supported his claims regarding low military pay with bank transaction receipts. In a video posted on Tuesday, he urged the Nigerian Army to release its payroll to verify his assertions.

Olamilekan's receipts detail three payments: N112,061.59 on February 2, 2026; N20,000 on February 4, 2026; and N45,000 on November 4, 2025. He highlighted that soldiers are required to buy their own protective equipment, including helmets and fragment jackets.

The Nigerian Army, represented by Appolonia Anael, dismissed Olamilekan's claims as baseless, asserting that all personnel are provided with adequate protective gear and that soldiers receive a consolidated monthly salary along with allowances. Olamilekan's initial claims gained attention in February 2026 when he called for support from government officials, leading to his arrest and subsequent dismissal for indiscipline, including violations of social media policies.
