Nigerian Army Reaffirms Troop Welfare and Safety Measures

On Tuesday, Col. Appolonia Anel Olamilekan, the Director of Army Public Relations, addressed claims regarding the welfare of discharged soldiers, specifically denying allegations of poor remuneration and inadequate equipment.

She clarified that the soldier's dismissal was due to grave acts of indiscipline, including violations of the Armed Forces' social media policy, and followed due process as established by military regulations. Olamilekan emphasized that the Nigerian Army operates under a transparent salary system, ensuring personnel receive monthly salaries and allowances, including uniform and ration cash.

She refuted assertions that troops are required to purchase their own uniforms and protective gear, stating that the Army provides necessary equipment, including bulletproof vests and helmets. Olamilekan warned that claims of soldiers being deployed without protective equipment are reckless and unfounded, urging the public to verify information from credible sources.
