Newspaper Business Will Survive Disruptions, Says Ex-NPAN Boss

Mr. Feyi Smith, the former executive secretary of the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) and organizing secretary of the Times Heroes Award Council, stated that the newspaper business will endure despite global challenges and disruptions in the media industry. He made these remarks following a media chat in Lagos, where the final list of the DTN @100 Times Heroes Awards was unveiled.

Smith noted that technology and new media have caused significant disruptions, but organizations must reinvent and diversify to remain relevant. The DTN Heroes Award, scheduled for Thursday in Abuja, aims to honor individuals and corporate organizations that have significantly contributed to the publication and Nigeria's economy.

Notable honorees include Sam Amuka-Pemu, Aremo Segun Osoba, Chief Yemi Ogunbiyi, and Akogun Tola Adeniyi. Bolaji Okusaga, chairman of the DTN@100 Heroes Awards Council, emphasized that the awards celebrate distinguished individuals across various fields and aim to preserve national memory.
