Tinubu Calls for Intelligence Sharing to Combat Insecurity

At the 2026 North-Central Regional Security Summit held in Makurdi, Benue State, President Bola Tinubu and governors from the North-Central geopolitical zone advocated for stronger intelligence sharing and collaboration among states, communities, and security agencies to address the region's escalating insecurity. Tinubu, represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, urged political leaders to unite against banditry, kidnapping, and farmer-herder conflicts.

He emphasized that insecurity transcends state boundaries, necessitating cooperation among various agencies and communities. The President highlighted his administration's efforts to enhance the security architecture through improved collaboration among the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, and intelligence services.

He also noted the importance of addressing underlying issues such as land disputes, climate change, and the proliferation of illicit weapons. Tinubu called on traditional and religious leaders to act as early warning systems and encouraged women and youths to play a central role in peace-building efforts.
