Doctors in England Launch 15th Strike Over Pay Dispute

Doctors across England have launched their 15th strike, which is set to last for six days, amid ongoing disputes regarding work conditions and pay. This action, led by resident doctors below the consultant level, adds pressure to the already stretched National Health Service (NHS).

The British Medical Association (BMA) has highlighted that despite receiving a cumulative 28.9% pay rise over the past three years, inflation has eroded doctors' real earnings. The Health Secretary has criticized the strike, labeling doctors as "standout winners" in the public sector and warning that the strike could cost the NHS approximately £300 million.

The BMA is demanding a full restoration of pay to 2008 levels, but negotiations with the government remain deadlocked, with no breakthroughs achieved. The ongoing strike poses a significant threat to patient care across England as discussions continue without resolution.
