No cause of death was provided, but she had faced health issues that led to the cancellation of her Las Vegas residency in May 2026. Parton passed away in Nashville, Tennessee, after undergoing treatment for immune and digestive system problems.

Throughout her career, which spanned over six decades, she wrote numerous classics, including "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You," and achieved record-breaking success with 25 US country No. 1 singles. Parton was also a successful actress, known for her roles in films like "9 to 5" and "Steel Magnolias." Beyond her entertainment career, she was recognized for her philanthropy, including her Imagination Library initiative, which donated over 150 million books to children.

Parton was married to Carl Dean from 1966 until his death in 2025.
