INEC Urges Relocated Voters to Transfer Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a notice to Nigerians who have moved to new locations, advising them to transfer their voter registration ahead of the deadline for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. The deadline has been extended to July 26, 2026, from the original date of July 10, 2026, to accommodate more eligible voters.

INEC launched an online self-service portal that allows eligible Nigerians to register for a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), transfer their voting location, update their details, and replace lost or damaged voter cards. In a post on X, INEC emphasized that voters who have relocated should not register again but should apply for a Transfer of Registration to vote at a polling unit closer to their new residence.

Registration centers will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., including weekends, until the closure of the CVR exercise. INEC encouraged eligible voters to take action to ensure their votes count.
