Dr. Doro Launches Programme for 63,000 Households in Agriculture

On October 9, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, inaugurated a Joint Technical Working Group for the Renewed Hope Resilient Livelihood Pathways Programme in Abuja. This initiative aims to assist 63,000 vulnerable households across nine states, including Kano, Jigawa, Kebbi, Bauchi, Plateau, Benue, Ondo, Ebonyi, and Cross River, by transitioning them from social assistance to sustainable livelihoods through productive agricultural activities.
Dr. Doro emphasized the need for government interventions to provide long-term economic opportunities. He directed the Technical Working Group to develop a comprehensive implementation plan with transparency and effective coordination.
The programme will leverage the Ministry’s One Humanitarian, One Poverty Response System (OHOPRS) for beneficiary identification and verification. Mr. Ayodeji Oludare Sotinrin, Managing Director/CEO of the Bank of Agriculture, outlined the operational framework, which includes connecting verified households with agricultural opportunities and providing necessary support for crop farming.
