Sowore, Amaechi, Obi Clash Over Fuel Subsidy at NBA Conference

During the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, a heated debate erupted among Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Rotimi Amaechi, the Vice Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Sowore criticized successive administrations for exploiting Nigerians under the pretext of fuel subsidy removal, asserting his consistent opposition to the policy.

He accused Amaechi and other politicians of shifting their positions for nearly a decade. Sowore challenged the economic rationale behind subsidy removal, stating that it primarily benefits elites rather than ordinary citizens.

Amaechi interjected to refute Sowore's claims, insisting that his achievements in governance should be the measure of his performance. Sowore countered by questioning Amaechi's record as a former governor, particularly regarding transportation policies.

Amaechi defended his tenure, citing infrastructure projects like roads and railways.
