Drones Disrupt 54 Flights at Danang Airport During Holidays

During the busy Lunar New Year holiday, Danang International Airport in Vietnam experienced significant disruptions due to unauthorized drone activity. Two separate incidents last week resulted in a total of 54 flights being delayed as aircraft were forced to hold patterns before landing.

The airport authorities detected drones flying dangerously close to the aircraft, prompting immediate action. The specifics of how the drones operated near the aircraft were not disclosed.

Vietnam has a ban on private unmanned aerial vehicles in high-intensity light areas around airports, including Danang, which is the main aviation hub in the central region of the country, handling approximately 300 flights per day during peak holiday seasons. The airport officials did not immediately respond to requests for comments regarding the incidents.
