DSS Arraigns 67-Year-Old Farmer for Firearms Possession

Danjuma Antu, a 67-year-old farmer from Plateau State, was arraigned by the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Federal High Court in Abuja for allegedly possessing two locally fabricated pistols capable of discharging 9mm ammunition and three live rounds of the same caliber. The offenses occurred on June 27, 2025, near Kabong Primary School in Jo North LGA, Plateau State.

Antu faces five counts, including possession of firearms without a license, which contravenes Section 3 of the Firearm Act 2004, and knowingly providing material support for acts of terrorism. Justice Ekeret Udofot Akpan presided over the case, where Antu pleaded not guilty.

He was granted bail set at N200 million, requiring two sureties with properties in Abuja and other conditions. The trial is scheduled to commence on June 25, 2025, with Antu currently remanded in DSS custody pending the fulfillment of bail conditions.
