DSS Arrests Impersonator for Extorting Motorists in Abuja

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested Moferewa Maiye for allegedly impersonating DSS personnel and extorting money from motorists. The arrest occurred at NITEL Junction, along Adetokunbo Ademola Way, Wuse II, Abuja, where Maiye was found wearing a DSS tactical uniform and armed with a fake pistol.

A security source indicated that the DSS acted on credible intelligence regarding Maiye's activities, which involved intimidating commuters. During interrogation, Maiye claimed that his brother, Monday Maiye, who had died years earlier, was a DSS personnel and that the uniform belonged to him.

The DSS is investigating how Maiye acquired the uniform and the duration of his impersonation and extortion activities. This incident highlights the growing concern within the DSS regarding individuals impersonating security personnel to commit crimes against the public.
