D’Tigress Aim for Pride Against France in World Cup Finale

D’Tigress will compete against France in their final Group B match at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup on Monday, having already been eliminated after two losses. They first lost 99-81 to South Korea and then 71-67 to Hungary.

Wakama disclosed that she learned shortly before departing the United States that she would be attending the tournament, joining the team only four days before their opening game. Previously, in April, the Nigeria Basketball Federation announced her absence from a tour in the United States due to commitments with the WNBA's Chicago Sky, with assistant coach Wani Muganguzi leading the team during that period.

D’Tigress lost both games against WNBA teams, and their struggles have led to discussions about the squad's quality and cohesion. Following their defeat to South Korea, Wakama noted the lack of execution despite having good opportunities.
