Falconets Set to Face Spain in World Cup Opener

The Falconets will open their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign on Monday, facing defending champions Spain in their first Group F match at Stadion Sosnowiec in Poland. The match is set to kick off at 5pm local time, which is 4pm Nigerian time.

Head Coach Moses Aduku expressed his team's determination to start the tournament on a winning note, stating they would approach the game as if it were a cup final, aiming for maximum points against Spain. Aduku acknowledged Spain's strong reputation in the competition, having finished as runners-up in 2018 and winning the title in 2020.

The Falconets have a notable history in the tournament, having finished runners-up twice, first in 2010 against Germany and again in 2014 after extra time against the same team.
