D’Tigress to Face Los Angeles Sparks in Historic Match

D’Tigress is set to play a historic preseason match against the Los Angeles Sparks on April 25 at Vieja Arena, marking the first encounter between an African national team and a WNBA franchise. This significant fixture will take place during their tour in the United States, which is part of their preparation for the upcoming international calendar mandated by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBF).

Following the match against the Sparks, D’Tigress will also compete against the Minnesota Lynx on April 27 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. This game will be the fourth time a WNBA team has faced an international side, with D’Tigress having previously played against U.S. national teams in major tournaments.

The team, which recently secured its fifth consecutive AfroBasket title, is preparing for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup scheduled for September 4-13 in Berlin, with the draw set for April 21.
