Dubai Enters Mourning Period for Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

Following the death of Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, authorities in Dubai have declared a 10-day official mourning period across the emirate. During this time, flags will be flown at half-mast to honor Ahmed, who was the younger brother of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai.

Mohammed expressed his grief on social media, stating, “May God have mercy on Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. May God have mercy on you, my brother.” He acknowledged Ahmed's absence while remembering him in prayers.

UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also extended condolences, recognizing Ahmed's significant contributions to the UAE's development since its founding. Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was the fourth and youngest son of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, a key figure in Dubai's establishment.

Throughout his career, Ahmed held senior positions in public life, including chairman of the Dubai Police and Public Security sector, and contributed to the horse racing and real estate sectors.
