Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Passes Away at 76

Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the younger brother of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, died at the age of 76 on September 21, 2026. Following his death, Dubai has entered a 10-day official mourning period, as announced by the Ruler's Court, which confirmed that flags across the emirate would be flown at half-mast.

Sheikh Ahmed was born in 1950 and was the youngest son of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the former Ruler of Dubai. He received military training at a prestigious institution and served as Commander-in-Chief of Dubai's Central Military Command.

Additionally, he held significant public service roles, including Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security, and was involved in various business activities as Group Chairman of A.R.M. Holding.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum expressed his condolences on social media, stating that Sheikh Ahmed would remain in their prayers and hearts. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, also paid tribute to his uncle.
