Duke: Fragmented Opposition Can't Defeat Tinubu in 2027

Donald Duke, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), warned that fragmented opposition parties would struggle to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections. Speaking during a media interaction in Abuja on Monday, Duke highlighted the necessity for a common vision among opposition parties rather than merely aiming to replace the president.

He noted that the opposition's lack of unity contributed to Tinubu's victory in the 2023 presidential election, where combined votes from Abubakar Atiku and Peter Obi would have surpassed Tinubu's total. Duke stressed that the opposition must articulate a clear vision and identify effective leaders to implement it, stating, “If the only thing is to replace Bola Tinubu with X Y Z, we’re not moving anywhere.” The summit, which aimed to foster collaboration among six opposition parties, was convened by the G-100 political pressure group.
