Duke Calls for Unity Among Opposition for 2027 Elections

Donald Duke, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and former governor of Cross River State, stated that opposition politicians must set aside personal egos and ambitions to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election. In an interview, Duke identified the main challenge for the opposition as the inability to unify around a common goal rather than the strength of the APC.

He emphasized the necessity for opposition figures to negotiate, compromise, and form a coalition focused on a shared national vision. Duke warned that pursuing individual presidential ambitions could fragment the anti-APC vote, inadvertently strengthening the ruling party.

He called for a serious opposition alliance centered on ideas, competence, and national development, urging politicians to prioritize issues affecting ordinary Nigerians, such as the high cost of living and insecurity. Duke concluded that the 2027 election should focus on competing visions for Nigeria rather than just personalities, advocating for early negotiations to create a credible alliance.
