Odegbami Calls for Suspension of NFF Elections

Segun Odegbami, the former captain of the Super Eagles, has urged for a temporary suspension of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) elections, which are set for September 27 in Lafia, Nasarawa State. This call comes as the NFF's Elective Congress was postponed from September 26 to accommodate a Super Eagles qualifier against Madagascar.

Odegbami criticized the NFF's electoral process, labeling it a "four-yearly ritual of crisis" and highlighting that the administration of Nigerian football has not kept pace with the country's talent and potential. He pointed out that problems in football administration have persisted for decades, rooted in decisions made since the early 1990s, which have become entrenched in the system.

Odegbami emphasized that these issues have stunted the growth of Nigerian football, preventing it from becoming an economic and youth-development engine. He reiterated the need for a reassessment of the administrative structure to address these longstanding problems.
