East African Athletes Shine at Enugu City Marathon

The 2nd Enugu City International Marathon concluded with athletes from Kenya and Ethiopia winning the top prizes in the 42km category. The race commenced at 6:30 am at the Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College, GTC, Enugu.

Edwin Kipyogo of Kenya won the men's race in two hours, 23 minutes, and 38 seconds, receiving a cash prize of $15,000. Habtamu Girma of Ethiopia finished second with a time of two hours, 23 minutes, and 39 seconds, earning $10,000, while Shiferaw Daltiemayu secured third place with a time of two hours, 23 minutes, and 41 seconds, winning $5,000.

The best Nigerian male, Iliya Emmanuel Dung, finished in two hours, 26 minutes, winning N3 million. In the women's category, Zennebe Aberu of Ethiopia won in two hours, 48 minutes, and 40 seconds, also receiving $15,000.

Governor Dr. Peter Mbah presented the prizes and expressed his commitment to making Enugu the sporting capital of Africa.
