Cross River Governor Launches Free Easter Transport Services

On the occasion of Easter, Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has introduced free transport services within Calabar and across the state to address the high transport costs faced by citizens. This initiative, termed "Season of Sweet Easter Free Transport," is the fourth in a series since Otu assumed office.

The governor assured the public of their safety during this period, emphasizing that no vehicles would break down and that services would extend to areas outside Calabar. Additionally, free boat services will be provided for commuters in creek towns and riverine areas.

Deputy Governor Peter Odei supported the program, highlighting the administration's commitment to people-centered policies. Special Adviser on General Duties, Ekpenyong Akiba, noted that the transport sector is crucial, contributing 12 percent to the nation’s GDP.

The governor's office aims to cushion the economic hardships faced by citizens, with ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, including road construction and addressing potholes.
