Edo State Launches Initiative for Mental Health Rehabilitation

On Wednesday, the Edo State Government, under the leadership of Hon. Eugenia Abdallah, launched a statewide operation aimed at addressing mental illness on the streets.

This initiative seeks to remove mentally unstable individuals and provide them with rehabilitation services. Abdallah emphasized that the intervention is structured to restore dignity to vulnerable persons and ensure public sanitation across the state.

The program is designed to provide treatment, shelter, and reintegration for affected individuals, with a commitment to saving lives and restoring dignity. Abdallah assured that the operation will adhere to human rights standards and establish social welfare protocols.

Mr. Sylvest Okoegual, the director of rehabilitation, noted that this operation is part of a broader strategy to tackle homelessness and mental health challenges in Edo State, highlighting the urgent need for medical attention and structural support for individuals currently on the streets.
