Edo Couple Arrested by NDLEA for Drug Trafficking

The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Christian Chukwuka, 32, and his wife Nwanneka Christian, 33, for allegedly operating a drug warehouse in Benin City. The operation, which took place following credible intelligence, resulted in the recovery of 412 kilograms of illicit drugs.

This included 22 bags of skunk weighing 219.5 kilograms and compressed blocks of Canadian loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 192.67 kilograms. Mitchel Ofoyeju, a spokesperson for the NDLEA, noted that this seizure is one of the largest recorded by the command in recent times.

The agency is committed to dismantling drug trafficking networks to protect communities from the threats posed by illicit drugs. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court.

Christian Chukwuka cited poverty and unemployment as factors that led him to drug trafficking after struggling to find work as a truck driver.
