NDLEA and Army Seize 1,359 kg of Cannabis in Edo

The Edo State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, conducted an intelligence-led operation that uncovered a four-bedroom bungalow in Illushi community, Esan South-east local government area, allegedly used as a cannabis warehouse. The operation resulted in the recovery of 1,359 kilogrammes of cannabis and cannabis seeds.
Dr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, the Edo state commander of the NDLEA, reported the seizure included 52 large bags of cannabis, three gallons of cannabis seeds, and an additional bag containing seeds, totaling 1,273 kg of cannabis and 86 kg of cannabis seeds.
Ofoyeju noted that these figures were under review as investigations continued. Additionally, two suspected drug traffickers were arrested: 45-year-old Ojore Onweze, found with 60 kg of cannabis, and 30-year-old George Agwumede, apprehended with 13 kg of the substance.
