Edo Government Cites Rain for Road Work Delays

The Edo State Government has cited heavy rainfall as the reason for the slow progress in ongoing road rehabilitation and reconstruction projects across the state. Prince Kassim Afegbua, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, made this statement on Tuesday, assuring residents that work would accelerate once the weather improves.

He noted that all major roads connecting Edo State through various entry points have been awarded for rehabilitation or reconstruction. Specific roads mentioned include the Benin-Ore Road, which is currently under repair but has faced delays due to adverse weather, and the Benin-Agbor Road, which is undergoing reconstruction under a concession arrangement aimed at creating a 10-lane highway.

The Benin-Warri Road is also affected by the persistent rains. Afegbua emphasized that the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo is committed to enhancing infrastructure and improving movement across the state, having prioritized road infrastructure upon taking office.
