Edo Governor Redeploys Suspended Commissioner to Oil and Gas

On Thursday, the Edo State Governor redeployed Professor Omorodion Ignatius Ikponmwosa, who was previously suspended as Commissioner for Livestock Development on July 19, 2026, to the Ministry of Oil and Gas. His suspension, alongside Mrs Ikpikhumi Betsy Aghaku, was due to alleged “official infraction,” but the state government did not disclose specific details about the allegations or the reasons for his recall.

The announcement of his redeployment was made through a press statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Umar Musa Ikhilor, which also included the deployment of two newly sworn-in commissioners: Mr Iriabekhai Kayode Jeffery to the Ministry of Mining and Mr Martin Anayochukwu Oli to the Ministry of Inter-Ethnic Relations. The governor emphasized that these changes aim to strengthen governance and improve service delivery.

The statement indicated that all redeployments are effective immediately and urged the affected commissioners to ensure a smooth transition in their new roles.
