Edo Governor Suspends Livestock Commissioner Over Misconduct

On Monday night, Edo State Governor Mondai Okpebholo approved the suspension of Prof. Omorodion Ignatiu Ikponmwosa, the Commissioner for Livestock Development, and Mr. Ikpikhumi Betsy Aghaku, the project coordinator for the Livestock Product Resilience Support (LPRES) project. The suspensions were based on allegations of misconduct, although specific details regarding the allegations were not disclosed.

The Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, issued an official statement directing the immediate suspension and the proper documentation of government properties related to the LPRES project. Furthermore, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Livestock Development was instructed to report to the Secretary to the State Government, describing a comprehensive debrief on the implementation of the LPRES project.

The LPRES project is a joint initiative between the federal and state governments aimed at enhancing livestock production, strengthening the resilience of the sector, and improving the livelihoods of livestock farmers across participating states.
