Delta State Suspends Commissioner Reuben Izeze Over Assault

The Delta State Government has announced the indefinite suspension of Reuben Izeze, the Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads), following allegations of his involvement in the assault of Simon Mudi, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocol, known as Temple. This suspension, effective immediately, was communicated in a statement signed by Dr Kingsley Emu, the Secretary to the State Government, on Monday.

The government stated that the suspension aims to allow security agencies to conduct an unbiased investigation into the incident, which reportedly took place at the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun, Delta State. The government emphasized the importance of public safety and law and order, asserting its commitment to ensuring that no public officials are above the law.

The statement did not specify the duration of the investigation or whether Izeze would be reinstated afterward. Izeze represents Ughelli South State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly and was appointed by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
