Edo Queens Arrive in Burkina Faso for CAF Qualifiers

Edo Queens, the champions of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL), have arrived in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, to participate in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifying tournament. They landed aboard Air Côte d’Ivoire and are currently preparing for the competition, which runs from August 23 to September 5.

The tournament will determine which team secures the zone's ticket to the continental championship. Interim coach Kennedy Boboye is overseeing the team in the absence of head coach Moses Aduku, who is with Nigeria’s Falconets for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Edo Queens are placed in Group B alongside Côte d’Ivoire’s ASEC Mimosas, Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa, and Niger’s AS Garde Nationale, although CAF's latest guide lists a different team in the group. Edo Queens previously won the WAFU-B competition in 2024 and finished fourth in their first CAF Women’s Champions League appearance, providing them with valuable experience for this campaign.
