Education Ministry and NIMC Collaborate for Digital Reform

The Federal Ministry of Education, led by Dr. Olatunji, has partnered with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to drive digital transformation in Nigeria's education sector.

This collaboration aims to deepen the integration of a credible national learner identification system, which is crucial for effective governance and quality education. Dr.

Olatunji emphasized the importance of this partnership during a stakeholder engagement event, highlighting the significant progress made in integrating the national learner identification number into the Nigeria Education Management Information System (NEMIS). The initiative is expected to support evidence-based policymaking and improve resource allocation, targeting interventions to enhance learning outcomes across the country.

The NIMC, under the leadership of Dr. Alausa, is set to enroll 120 million Nigerians into the national identity database, which will facilitate access to government services and strengthen public institutions.

The recent enactment of the NIMC Act 2026 is seen as a major milestone in building trust in Nigeria's digital ecosystem.
