EFCC Recovers N1.23tn, $684m Under Olukoyede's Leadership

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), under the chairmanship of Ola Olukoyede, reported significant achievements in combating financial crimes, recovering N1.23 trillion, $684.47 million, and other currencies between October 1, 2023, and June 30, 2026. Olukoyede presented a three-year stewardship report at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, revealing that the commission received 49,673 petitions, investigated 39,615 cases, and filed 14,476 cases in court, resulting in 10,872 convictions, which represents a 75.1% conviction-to-filing ratio.

In the first half of 2026 alone, the EFCC secured 1,370 convictions from 1,889 filings. The report also indicated that N661.32 billion and $492.37 million had been released to beneficiaries during this period, with N397.26 billion directly for the Federal Government and N836.34 billion for other entities.

Olukoyede emphasized the importance of ensuring that recovered funds benefit the public interest and disclosed that over 40 EFCC personnel were dismissed for corruption during his tenure.
