Ekiti Government Investigates Offensive Odour Complaints

The Ekiti State Government has initiated investigations into complaints regarding an offensive odour in Ado Ekiti, the state capital. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the State Commissioner for Information, reassured residents of the government's commitment to their safety and well-being.

In a statement on Sunday, Olatunbosun detailed that coordinated investigations and inspections are underway in areas where the odour has been reported. The government is collaborating with relevant institutions and experts to identify the source of the odour and implement practical measures.

Preliminary findings indicate that factors such as indiscriminate sewage disposal, poor waste management, and the discharge of decomposed materials are contributing to the environmental nuisance. The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources is conducting air and gas analyses to gather scientific data. Olatunbosun urged residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information, emphasizing the government's ongoing monitoring and commitment to a clean environment.
