Ekiti Nursing College Criticized for Charging N1 Million for Substandard Student Accommodation

The Ekiti Nursing College in Ado Ekiti, Nigeria, is under scrutiny for charging N1 million for substandard room accommodation for four students, amounting to N250,000 per student. Parents and students have raised concerns about the exorbitant fees for cramped and poorly equipped rooms lacking basic amenities.

The Parents' Body of EKSUTH College of Nursing Sciences demanded a reduction in the accommodation fee to N100,000 per student due to the inadequate facilities. Alumni associations and student groups have also criticized the high fees compared to the quality of accommodation provided.

Despite these complaints, the school management has not addressed the issues raised by parents and students. The situation has led to calls for a return to the previous hostel system, which charged a more affordable fee of N50,000 per student annually.
