Oluyede Explains Withdrawal from Oyebanji's Re-election Challenge

Dr. Wole Oluyede, a candidate from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), announced that he would not be challenging the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in court.

He stated that his decision was made in the interest of statesmanship and the broader national interest rather than political compromise. Oluyede had previously initiated legal proceedings but withdrew his petition, emphasizing that this decision followed extensive consultations with his family, legal team, and political associates.

He dismissed rumors that he accepted financial inducements to discontinue the case, asserting that neither President Bola Tinubu, Governor Oyebanji, nor anyone else offered him money in exchange for his withdrawal. Oluyede expressed concerns about the electoral process, citing issues such as voter inducement and discrepancies in the bimodal voter accreditation system.

He urged political actors to support President Tinubu and emphasized the need for genuine grassroots mobilization for the upcoming 2027 elections.
