Oluyede Withdraws Tribunal Case for Ekiti Governorship Election

Dr. Wole Oluyede, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the June 20, 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State, explained his decision to withdraw a tribunal case challenging the election results.

He stated that the move was guided by a commitment to statesmanship and the broader interests of the nation. Oluyede emphasized the importance of grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 presidential elections and acknowledged the need for thorough scrutiny of the electoral process to protect its integrity.

He noted that the election results, which declared Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner with 319,224 votes against his 40,543 votes, deserved careful examination. Oluyede clarified that his withdrawal was not influenced by financial inducements, dismissing claims of receiving money from Oyebanji.

He expressed a desire to work collaboratively for the betterment of Ekiti State, highlighting the need to address electoral weaknesses and build a credible electoral process.
