NSCIA Urges Caution in El-Rufai's Ongoing Trial

On Tuesday, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) appealed to Nigerians to refrain from making incendiary comments that could prejudice the ongoing trial of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai. The NSCIA, through its Secretary General, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the judicial process and expressed concerns about potential religious bias influencing the prosecution.

The council has previously avoided commenting on El-Rufai's case, viewing it as a standard judicial process, but recent developments prompted them to caution against remarks that could exacerbate the security situation in Nigeria. The NSCIA called on the Federal Government and the judiciary to prevent individuals with vested religious interests from manipulating the legal system for sectarian purposes.

They also prayed for peace, stability, and security in the country.
