El-Rufai's Situation Sparks Call for Loyalty in North

Mallam Jafar Ibrahim Sani, the former National Vice Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the North-West, called for political leaders and stakeholders in the North to demonstrate loyalty and uphold justice concerning the recent challenges faced by former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. In a statement titled “El-Rufai, The North, Our Elders and the Test of Loyalty,” Sani emphasized that political relationships should be based on principles rather than immediate gains.

He acknowledged differing opinions about El-Rufai but affirmed his significant contributions to Nigeria's public life. Sani expressed concern over the limited support from those previously close to El-Rufai, arguing that political differences should not lead to unfairness.

He urged Northern leaders to prioritize justice and the rule of law in El-Rufai's case, advocating for responsible engagement rather than blind support. Sani defended El-Rufai's remarks about Northern elders, stating they were a call for improvement in the region's development rather than an insult.
