APGA Chairman Claims Major Parties Lack Candidates in Anambra

Chief Sylvester Ezeokenwa, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), criticized the decision of major political parties in Anambra State, specifically the All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), to withdraw from the upcoming local government elections scheduled for Saturday. Ezeokenwa alleged that these parties do not have candidates for the elections, asserting that only APGA and the Young Democratic Party (YPP) are participating.

He noted that the YPP has one chairmanship candidate in Anambra East Local Government Area but no councillorship candidates. Ezeokenwa emphasized that political parties must conduct primary elections to nominate candidates, which he claims the other parties failed to do.

He referenced statements from Mrs. Genevieve Osakwe, Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), confirming that the election would proceed as planned, despite indications of a lack of confidence from key political parties.
