Momodu Critiques Wike's Claims on Osun Election Victory

Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), responded to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who claimed he could have helped the All Progressives Congress (APC) win the recent Osun State governorship election. Momodu dismissed Wike's assertion as an "empty boast," arguing that Wike's political influence does not surpass that of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other APC governors who campaigned for the party.

Wike had stated that if President Bola Tinubu had wanted to win the Osun election "at all cost," he would have personally intervened. Momodu countered that Wike's presence would not have changed the election outcome, emphasizing that influential APC figures had already campaigned without success.

He warned that Wike's comments should not be taken lightly as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections, suggesting they indicate a reliance on political influence for future electoral victories. Momodu also referenced the former G-5 governors' unsuccessful bids for Senate seats, illustrating that political office holders do not possess unlimited electoral influence.
