Youth Empowerment: N17m Grants for Energy Leaders

Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), empowered more than 80 young Nigerians with startup grants and leadership training during the inaugural Mustapha Abdullahi Energy Leadership Fellowship (MAELF) 2026.

The fellowship, organized by the DAM Foundation in collaboration with the APC National Youth Wing, concluded in Abuja on a Friday with the distribution of certificates and an empowerment package valued at over N17 million. Grants ranged from N500,000 to N5 million for outstanding participants.

The week-long program included intensive training in leadership, energy policy, entrepreneurship, innovation, governance, and sustainable development. Participants engaged in lectures, policy dialogues, mentorship sessions, and networking opportunities.

Notable figures such as Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, Ayodele Olawande Wisdom, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Engr.

Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and Hon. Dayo Israel participated in the event.

Abdullahi emphasized the need for ethical leadership in advancing Nigeria's energy transition.
