CSOs Call on Senate to Ensure Integrity of Amupitan for INEC Leadership

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have called on the Senate to subject Amupitan to an integrity test for the INEC leadership position, stressing the need for impartiality and transparency in Nigeria's electoral process. The joint statement issued in Abuja acknowledged Amupitan's strong academic and professional background but emphasized the demand for an impartial umpire capable of resisting political interference.

The CSOs highlighted the importance of a transparent and inclusive confirmation process for Amupitan, following the expiration of Professor Mahmood Yakubu's tenure. They urged the Senate to thoroughly examine Amupitan's competence, public record, and vision for electoral reform to ensure free and fair elections.
