Enugu State Sets N80,000 Minimum Wage for Forest Guards

Enugu State has announced a minimum wage of N80,000 for forest guards as part of reforms to enhance forest protection. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi mandated the increase in guard salaries to align with the new state minimum wage.

The directive includes cracking down on illegal logging activities and prosecuting offenders engaged in deforestation. The State Commander of the Forest Guard, Akinbayo Olasoji, revealed plans for stakeholder engagements across the senatorial zones to ensure community involvement and transparency in guard recruitment.

The initiative aims to promote forest conservation and sustainable environmental practices in Enugu State.
