Ezimo Community Denies Sharing Water With Cows

The community of Ezimo in Udenu Local Government Area, Enugu State, has debunked claims made by Sahara Report that they share water sources with cows. Barr Ifeanyi Ossai, the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, stated that the report was unbalanced and lacked credibility.

Charl Ndu, President of the Ezimo United Forum, also criticized the report, asserting that it aimed to tarnish the image of the Urukpa community. Ossai highlighted that the community has functional boreholes, which were established to provide clean water, and that the claims of sharing water with cattle are false.

Onyekachi Ugwu, a former councillor, called for an independent investigation into the matter to prevent public misinformation. The community has a significant number of boreholes, with five operational, and has historically relied on these sources for potable water, dismissing the notion that they depend on streams that may be contaminated.
