Enugu State Governorship Candidate Criticizes Rising Hardship and Poverty Under Current Administration

Rai Kene Ogbodo, a 2023 governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), expressed concern over the increasing hardship and poverty in Enugu State. Ogbodo criticized Governor Peter Mbah's 32-month administration for failing to alleviate the economic challenges faced by the people.

Despite revenue growth, Ogbodo noted that poverty has worsened, with families struggling to afford basic necessities and businesses collapsing. Ogbodo called for a shift in economic policies to empower the people, especially the poor and middle class, through job creation and income security.

The statement also highlighted the need for transparency and accountability in governance to regain citizens' trust. Meanwhile, the government announced plans to abolish illegal levies and streamline land-related charges as part of broader economic transformation efforts.
