Enugu Governor Celebrates STEM Olympiad Gold Medalist

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah celebrated 13-year-old Chimdiebub Onwubiko, who emerged as a gold medalist in mathematics and a silver medalist in science at the 2026 International STEM Olympiad held in Rome, Italy, from July 2 to 8. Mbah described Onwubiko's achievements as a proud moment for Enugu State and Nigeria.

He welcomed the young champion and acknowledged the importance of discipline, dedication, and quality education. The governor commended Onwubiko's mathematics teacher, Chisom Unachukwu of Evergreen School, for nurturing young talent.

Mbah reaffirmed his administration's commitment to improving education through initiatives like the Smart Green School initiative, aimed at creating opportunities for every child in Enugu to discover their potential. Chimdiebub was one of three Nigerian students who excelled at the Olympiad, which attracted participants from 150 countries.
