Gonzaga Jesuit College Wins 25 Awards at STEM Olympiad

Gonzaga Jesuit College, located in Okija, Anambra State, achieved remarkable success at the 2026 International Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Olympiad grand final held in Rome, Italy, on July 8. The school secured a total of 25 awards, comprising 10 gold medals, three silver medals, and nine bronze medals, along with three honor mentions.

Notably, students Okek Somtochukwu Nwafor and Emmanuel Chinedu were recognized as the overall second best in the world. The college's performance reflects its commitment to excellence in STEM education, with students demonstrating outstanding knowledge, creativity, innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities throughout the competition.

Among the gold medal winners were Chukwuma Amed in the science category and Okek Somtochukwu Nwafor and Emmanuel Chinedu in the engineering technology category. The school continues to nurture future scientists and innovators, reinforcing its reputation as a center of academic excellence in Nigeria and Africa.
