Enugu State Offers 90-Day Amnesty for Building Approvals

The Enugu State Government has initiated a 90-day amnesty period for property owners who have constructed buildings without the necessary approvals. This initiative, announced by Chiwetalu Nwatu, the Managing Director of the Enugu State Geographic Information System, aims to facilitate the regularization of properties as part of ongoing efforts to enforce structural and urban development regulations.

Property owners are required to submit their building plans for approval during this amnesty window to avoid future sanctions. The government stresses that no building plan approvals will be granted without registered land titles.

Additionally, owners are advised to engage certified architects to prepare their building plans, which must reflect the current state of the structures. The initiative is positioned as a forward-looking intervention to help property owners achieve compliance without penalties, thereby contributing to a more organized and secure urban environment in line with the state's broader land administration reforms.
