Enugu Police Investigate Disruption of Political Gatherings

CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, the Commissioner of Police for Enugu State Command, has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate two separate incidents of alleged disruption of political gatherings in Nkanu West local government area that occurred on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The first incident took place at the Ndiuno-Obuoffia community, where armed hoodlums reportedly disrupted a meeting of the NDC, resulting in injuries to two participants due to sporadic gunfire.

The second incident occurred at St. Joseph Primary School in Agbani, where hoodlums allegedly destroyed canopies and chairs set up for a PDP rally. Police operatives were dispatched to both locations to prevent further disturbances and pursue the suspects.

CP Giwa reiterated the importance of peaceful political activities and warned against electoral offences, urging political parties to notify the police of their events for security arrangements.
