Enugu Police Arrest 14 Suspected Cultists in Operations

The Enugu State Police Command conducted two intelligence-led operations, resulting in the arrest of 14 suspected cultists and the recovery of two firearms and three live cartridges. Police spokesperson Daniel Ndukwe reported that the Anti-Cultism Sub-Unit of the Violent Crime Response Unit recovered a locally fabricated single-barrelled pistol in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, following a confession from suspect Nwodo Peters Chinweokwu, also known as “Sir-P” or “Biggy.” Chinweokwu was arrested alongside seven others: Nnaji Emmanuel, Iroegbu Joshua, Nwafor Miracle, Ogbonna Moses Osinachi, Oha Chidiebere Francis, Udebuani Chukwuma, and Elochukwu Oko, alias “Benson.” In a separate operation around 2 am, five additional suspects were arrested in Ezeagu Local Government Area based on another suspect's confession.

Those arrested included Oscar Ebuka, Eze Chimaobi Godson, alias “Torpedo,” Ukeje Kingsley, Tochukwu Chilo, alias “Boss Me,” and Nnamezie Amechi, alias “Obodobuigwe.” Ongoing investigations aim to apprehend more accomplices. Commissioner Mamman Bitrus Giwa commended the police for their efforts and urged community support.
